Damit sie ab Dezember 2024 zwischen St. Gallen und Sargans einen integralen Halbstundentakt im Fernverkehr anbieten k\u00f6nnen, braucht es zus\u00e4tzliche Doppelspurabschnitte sowie weitere Bauarbeiten an der Bahninfrastruktur.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_16601\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16601\" style=\"width: 680px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16601\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fachbau.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/sbb_rheintal_projektuebersicht_fachbau.ch_-680x383.jpg\" alt=\"\u00dcbersicht \u00fcber die verschiedenen Ausbauprojekte. (Grafik: SBB)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Seit August 2022 laufen erste Vorarbeiten wie das Einrichten von Installationspl\u00e4tzen. Am 19. Oktober 2022 haben Vertreter des Bundesamts f\u00fcr Verkehr, des Kantons St. Gallen, der Gemeinden im Rheintal, der SBB und der beteiligten Bauunternehmungen in Oberriet SG den Spatenstich f\u00fcr den Doppelspurausbau gefeiert.<\/p>\n<h3>Umfangreicher Infrastrukturausbau<\/h3>\n<p>Die nun begonnenen Bauarbeiten dauern voraussichtlich bis im Fr\u00fchling 2025. Zweigleisig ausgebaut werden die Abschnitte Sevelen &#8211; Buchs SG, Buchs SG Nord sowie Oberriet SG &#8211; Oberriet SG Nord. Weiter ist geplant, die ehemaligen Haltepunkte Weite-Wartau und R\u00e4fis-Burgerau zur\u00fcckzubauen. In Oberriet SG sind Anpassungen am Bahnhof und in Sevelen an den Perronanlagen vorgesehen. Der Bahnhof R\u00fcthi SG wird zum Kreuzungsbahnhof ausgebaut. Schliesslich werden die Gleise der bestehenden zweigleisigen Abschnitte erneuert.<\/p>\n<p>Die Kosten f\u00fcr das gesamte Vorhaben betragen rund 250 Millionen Franken.
